Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Rana chiricahuensis
Chiricahua Leopard Frog

Pajaritos Mts., Arizona
August 3, 2000

It was unexpectedly great fun, finding frogs in Arizona.  Hiking up a canyon with a small stream at the bottom, we saw a small number of these leopard frogs in and around the intermittent deep pools.  During the day they stay in or close to the water, to avoid dessication in the hot sun. At night they come out and feed on insects.
