Sceloporus undulatus hyacinthinus
Franklin Co., Missouri It is hard to get away from Fence Lizards. No matter where I've gone herping in this country, a sceloporid of some type always seems to show up. I had 'Blue Bellies' living on the backyard fence when I was a lad, so these lizards and I go way back. I enjoy visiting some rocky, sunny place in mid to late summer, when the young Fence Lizards have hatched and are scampering about in numbers. They are fun to watch.
