Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Leptodactylus melanotus
Sabinal Frog

Sonora, Mexico
August 24th, 2014

Walking down the dry wash, I could hear the peep-peep of a frog, but when I neared the small pothole in the rock, there was sudden movement as the caller sank into the water.  I waited patiently, camera ready, and was rewarded a few minutes later when the Sabinal Frog surfaced and began calling again, sheltered in the sedge.
