Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Diadophis punctatus occidentalis
Northwestern Ringneck Snake

Polk Co., Oregon. April 29, 2007

I found a number of these on my visit to Oregon, flipping boards and tin.  It was interesting to compare these occidentalis to our Ringnecks back home. They are a sturdier snake, and much longer in comparison - a Northern Ringneck of the same girth would be much shorter in overall length.  Beautiful snakes, to boot!
