In St. Charles County one drizzly morning in early March, with an ambient air temperature of 59 F, I managed to find several hatchling Red Milks along with an adult.  They were under loose shale at the base of a bluff, along with several neonate Osage Copperheads.  That made it a very nice day!

Red Milks can be secretive snakes that become hard to find once the weather warms up and the ground dries out.  The pictured snake is a nice specimen from eastern Kansas.
